Isle of Coll - First port Of Coll |
The Isle of Coll is a small Hebridean island a short 50 miles off
the west coast of Scotland. The Isle of Coll can be reached via the port of Oban by taking the Caledonian MacBrayne
Ferrry. The Isle of Coll ia a short 13 miles long by 3
miles wide! The Isle of Coll provides a varied landscape with wide sandy beaches, rare dunes, peat bogs, inland
lochs and rocky outcrops. The Isle of Coll is home to protected species of birds and flowers and was the home of more then
just a few of our ancestors!

Secondly, now for the Fassett Theory of the Fastnet Rock Lighthouse--
If you look at Fastnet Rock and try to imagine the rock only, without the lighthouse, that is most likely
what our Fassett ancestors looked at as they sailed for America! Yes, it would have indeed been the last thing
in sight.
