Thank You Leon Thornton!

Lu Dawn, I appreciate your e-mail and may be able to provide more pic's and stories. I talked to Mom and Dad
(Clarence Thornton Jr.) about digging for some pictures. I'm told there was never a family photo taken with all the brothers
and sisters, but I know there are other photo's with individuals or small groups.
Dad, as a young boy went to Round Mountain often, spent summers there and spent time with his grandfather Henry Thornton and
the rest of the children. I'm running out of time but did attach some pic's that maybe of some interest to you. These
were taken last summer during Mom, Dad, my sister Joyce and cousin Craig's visit. Craig actually helped in the upkeep
on the schoolhouse the summer of 2008.
Photo's consist of :
1 Head stone of my grandfather in Ft.Scott, Kan. at the #1 National Cemetery (Clarence O. Thornton),
2 Meadows School House (inside and outside),
3 Stone for Meadows Cemetery,
4 Head Stone of Mae Meadows Thornton,
5 Dad over Bull Creek, the cosway crossing Bull Creek, looking out from where the cabin was sitting on Round Mountain,
6 Dad sitting on the buggy step stone that sat at the front gate
of the Log Cabin, (I have a picture of myself sitting on this same stone back in the early 1960's when the cabin was still
there),
7 Clyde's Headstone,
8 Infant Son Headstone,
9 Henry and Savanna's Headstone,
10 Picture of my mother Maxine, dad Clarence, my sister Joyce L. Thornton and my cousin Craig Stokes (Dad's sister, Laraine, son).
11 & 12 The last two pic's are from Ft. Scott Kansas, it is a veterans memorial at the Old Fort. On the stone
is Clarence Thornton Jr. - Clarence O. Thornton and James H. Thornton (father and both son's).

In reference to the following photo: No, Carol & I did not make it to this particular Reunion.
I had my eyes set on this year, 2010, but Carol is expecting Ben's first child in September 2010. Thus I now have my
sights set on the 2012 Reunion! The Good Lord Willing!
